Merrimack Man Indicted for Attempted Murder, Assault
Cory Daley could face life in prison for a June altercation that left a man with serious injuries.

A Merrimack man was indicted in November on a assault and attempted murder charges that could send him to prison for the rest of his life.
Cory Daley, who led police on a 12-hour man-hunt in June after he allegedly attacked his mother and her friend, was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and simple assault in the incident.
The incident occurred on June 1 and Daley turned himself in to police 12 hours after allegedly running from the Shore Drive crime scene when his victims escaped.

According to the indictments, Daley, 29, formerly of 21 Shore Drive and currently living in the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord, was charged with two counts of simple assault for head-butting his mother, Judy D., and for hitting her friend, Andrew Stamm, in the back with a chair.
He was also charged with first-degree assault for stabbing Stamm several times with a knife. It is the charge of attempted murder that, according to the indictment, could send Daley to prison for life if convicted. Daley allegedly stabbed Stamm in the arm and the head during the attack, knowing that it could cause deadly injury, the indictment said.

According to police reports in June, Daley had been out of police custody for about an hour before the attack. He'd been arrested on a charge of criminal mischief late on May 31.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but rather a grand jury's decision that there is enough evidence to bring a case forward to trial.
