Patten Road Intersection to be Realigned

Project seeks to improve safety, simplify winter maintenance at intersection with Baboosic Lake Road.

From the Merrimack Department of Public Works:

As part of the 2013 Townwide Paving Program, the Department of Public Works will be changing the alignment of Patten Road as it intersects with Baboosic Lake Road.  The existing 'Y' intersection will be removed in favor of a traditional 'T' style intersection.

Closure of the western spur of the 'Y' will occur during the week of July 8.  The Highway Division of Public Works will remove the pavement from the western spur and widen the existing pavement toward the triangle between the spurs.  Psnh, Comcast, and Fairpoint will then relocate their utility lines onto new poles which will allow removal of the existing pole that is located in the triangle.  Finally, as part of the resurfacing of the entire length of Patten Road, the new intersection will be paved and striped.

This project seeks to improve safety at the intersection, simplify winter maintenance operations, and reduce the amount of impervious surface in the town.

Questions on the project can be referred to Kyle Fox, town engineer at 424-5137.
