Police Taser Man During Confrontation

Police say man locked himself inside home with guns Thursday afternoon.

Police were forced to taser a man on Thursday after he barricaded himself inside his house with guns during an argument with another member of the household.

Robert Thorhauer, 58, of 27 Cambridge Drive, Merrimack, was arrested on two counts of criminal threatening and one count of reckless conduct in the incident that began just before 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Police say they arrived at the home in regard to a request for assistance and learned from the caller that Thorhauer had been involved in an argument and was becoming increasingly agitated. Police attempted to go speak to Thorhauer inside the home and learned he'd locked himself in the house and was in possession of firearms.

Merrimack Police dispatchers were able to make phone contact with Thorhauer and help get him to exit the home, however, he remained confrontational with police and still had a weapon nearby.

Officers used a taser to take him into custody without further incident.

Thorhauer was held in custody over night on $25,000 cash-only bail pending his arraignment in Merrimack district court on Friday morning.
