Protestors March To Elbit Systems In Merrimack For Peaceful Protest

A few dozen people assembled and held signs in support of Palestinians while criticizing New Hampshire politicians and the Israeli company.

MERRIMACK, NH — A large group of pro-Palestinian people gathered Saturday at the Show’s parking lot on Continental Boulevard to organize a display of their support.

Several posts on social media platforms announced the protest, which targeted Elbit Systems and some of the members of the New Hampshire Congressional and Senate delegations. Merrimack police, who were aware of the planned protest, had multiple officers in the area of the parking lot and Elbit Systems. A Merrimack police sergeant spoke to one of the organizers at the parking lot and was advised of the plans for a peaceful protest.

At about 12:45 p.m., the group carried signs, used bull horns, and chanted, and proceeded down Greeley Street, where police provided officers to stop traffic at Camp Sargent Road and the Everett Turnpike offramp. The group, which included men, women, and children, stayed on the sidewalk and marched down Daniel Webster Highway to the sidewalk in front of Elbit Systems.

It is unclear if this was one organization or several who joined together for the protest. One of the banners visible at the front of the group had the logo for "Democratic Socialists Of America.”

The protest remained peaceful and Merrimack Police verified there were no arrests associated with this protest.
