MERRIMACK, NH - Merrimack police attempted to stop a suspected stolen Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck operated by a former bank robber on Friday and the vehicle fled from police.

Police requested the assistance of Nashua officers after the suspect vehicle was located near CVS on Amherst Street. The driver abandoned the truck fled into the wooded area behind CVS, Wendy’s, and Key Automotive, while a passenger in the vehicle was detained.

As police searched the area for the suspect, identified as Avery Michel Blodgett, 42, of Concord, they were notified he was a suspect in an incident involving a stolen Toyota Tacoma at Key Auto, according to scanner chatter. Blodgett was last seen leaving the area headed west on 101A toward Amherst, police said.

Area law enforcement agencies searched for the vehicle and found it on Meetinghouse Road in New Boston about one hour later. The suspect once again fled from the stolen vehicle and went into the wooded area.
