Residents Indicted on Burglary, Drug and Weapons Charges

Merrimack woman and man each indicted in September

A Merrimack woman was indicted in September by a Hillsborough County grand jury on charges of burglary and possession of a narcotic.

Jennifer Demers, 32, whose last known address is 24 Thornton Road, Merrimack, is alleged to have broken into a home on West Hollis Street in Nashua during the night of July 24 into July 25. Court document also show that Demers was arrested for possession of heroin on July 25.

Demers burglary charge is a class A felony, which is punishable by up to 7 1/2-15 years in prison and up to $4,000 in fines if convicted. The heroin charge is considered an unclassified felony, for which Demers could spend up to 7 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines.

Also indicted in September was James Dobson, who was charged with being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon. According to court documents, Dobson, whose last known address is 251 Daniel Webster Highway, Apt. 1B, had in his possession a black-handled hatchet despite knowing he is prohibited from handling such a thing.

Dobson was convicted of felony-level burglary by Hillsborough County Superior Court South in February 2007. This new charge is considered class B felony, punishable by up to 3 1/2-7 years and up to $4,000 in fines.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but rather it's a determination that there is enough evidence to move a case forward to trial.
