Scenes From the Passenger Seat of a Plow

Ever wondered what the plow drivers see on the road. Here's a quick look.

On Friday, Feb. 8, Merrimack plow driver John Trythall was kind enough to take me out for a run through his route when the plows first hit the road during the snow storm.

During the hour and a half we were on the road together, Trythall chatted with me about his job as a driver and the challenges of the job. It was the first hour of driving in what was expected to be at least 24 hours of plowing, clean up and post-storm road treatment.

I will have a story for you on Sunday about what I learned from Trythall, but I wanted to show you a quick video of what it looked like from the passenger seat of the Trythall's truck – Truck 27 – at the beginning of the route, when it was still light out, and at the end, when darkness had set in.

Thank you to the Highway Deparment for allowing me the ridealong, to Trythall for taking me with him, and to all of the plow drivers, mechanics, highway department employees, police and fire personnel who work tirelessly and non-stop to help keep us safe in the snow.
