Merrimack Remembers Those Killed on Sept. 11

Locals honor the 12-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.

A small, informal gathering was held Wednesday evening in the parking lot of the American Legion to remember and honor those who were killed in the Sept. 11 terror attacks 12 years ago.

Attended by members of the Legion and the Merrimack VFW Post, members of the Merrimack Fire Department and community members, the ceremony was an opportunity for anyone who wanted to speak to share their feelings about the events of that morning and the reverberations felt over the last dozen years.

“We have painfully learned our nation is vulnerable,” said American Legion Chaplain Skitch Henderson in an opening prayer. “We pray for those lives were shattered in the attack.”
