Take a Paint Class, Learn CPR, Meet New People in Town

Merrimack School Board to meet. The Merrimack School Board will meet on Monday, Oct. 7 in the Matthew Thornton Room at Town Hall for a regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. On the agenda, they will hear an update from Merrimack Safeguard. They will also respond to the proposed capital improvement plan, among other things. Get the full agenda on the school district website.

Tap your creativity. 
Did you enjoy drawing and painting when you were a kid? Rekindle that passion at any age! On Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 7-8:30 p.m., local painter Christine Ryan will visit Merrimack Public Library to share her story and artistic process and encourage you to develop or continue your own art practice in this series of three monthly workshops. Attend one or more. For teens and adults. Some materials will be provided at no cost. A $10 materials fee will be collected for the other supplies at first meeting. (Other dates are Wednesday, Nov. 13 and Wednesday, Dec. 11). This event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Merrimack Library. Register in person at the library, over the phone at 424-5021 or on the library website.

Town Council to meet. 
The Merrimack Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the Matthew Thornton Room on Thursday, Oct. 10 for a regularly-scheduled meeting. On the agenda, the Council will hear from a Life Scout regarding construction of an information kiosk at Veteran's Park Boat Launch, they will discuss a grant for new portable radios for the Police Department from Homeland Security grant funds and they will hear from the Town Manager on the setting of tax rate, among other things. Learn a life skill.
Join the Merrimack Fire Department, at the Merrimack Public Library for a CPR class on Saturday morning in the Klumpp Meeting Room. The four-hour class begins at 9 a.m. and costs $35. Make new friends. 
Want to meet some new people in town? Looking for a way to get involved with local service work? Merrimack Friends and Families is hosting an information social at Hot Rize Bagel Café on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m.  Stop in to learn more about the group.  Merrimack Friends and Families is a social and service group offering women and their family’s opportunities to have fun and to participate in community service activities.  No RSVP is needed.  For additional information, please check out www.merrimackfriendsfamilies.org
