Traffic Trouble Spots Expected Thursday

A post-fireworks traffic plan has been put into place for Thursday. Read about it here.

Merrimack Police are advising residents of some traffic trouble spots they may encounter on Thursday, July 4.
The Sparkler 5K Road Race will affect traffic in and around Manchester Street starting at 8 a.m. Be extra aware of your surroundings on Daniel Webster Highway between Henry Clay Drive and Manchester Street, and on Manchester Street itself, where the bulk of the race takes place.

The July 4th Parade is planned to kick off at 1p.m. that day and will temporarily close Daniel Webster Highway from Baboosic Lake Road to the Commons and Baboosic Lake Road from O'Gara Drive to Daniel Webster Highway. Plan your midday travel accordingly.

Police also expect heavy traffic exiting the area of Merrimack High School after the fireworks that are scheduled for dusk, approximately 9 p.m. Arrangements have been made for traffic exiting the high school grounds. O’Gara Drive will be one-way traffic exiting the High School divided into two lanes. The lanes will exit onto Baboosic Lake Road with each lane turning respectively east and west on Baboosic Lake Road either westerly into town or easterly to Daniel Webster Highway. McElwain Street will be closed to exiting traffic at Woodbury Street, and directed down Woodbury Street to the Daniel Webster Highway. Please plan accordingly.
