Vehicle Crashes On The Everett Turnpike In Merrimack, Lands In Woods
The vehicle struck the concrete barrier in the median and traveled about 200 yards into a swampy area in the woods of the southbound lane.
MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack firefighters, police, and New Hampshire State Police responded to a vehicle that left the F.E. Everett Turnpike Saturday and went into the woods between Exit 11 and 10 southbound.
Several vehicles traveling Northbound witnessed the vehicle colliding with the center median and traveling about 200 yards, stopping in the swamp area well into the woods in the Southbound lane. Both occupants self-extricated from the vehicle. While awaiting Merrimack fire and rescue teams to arrive, Merrimack police checked the vehicle for additional occupants and did not locate anyone.
State police arrived at the scene and took statements from witnesses and attempted to learn what happened from the occupants of the car. After extended conversations with the person who indicated he was driving, he was handcuffed and brought to a state police cruiser.

After the driver was brought to the cruiser, an interaction occurred with the other occupant of the car when troopers advised him to stay out of the highway. He was also handcuffed and removed from the scene in a state police cruiser.
It is unknown what, if any, charges the two occupants face.

Lewis Towing came to the scene and worked for an extended period to remove the vehicle from the woods.
