Woman Charged With Stealing Clothing of Former Housemate

The following information was provided by the Merrimack Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

A Manchester woman who formerly resided in Merrimack, was arrested on a warrant over the weekend alleging she stole clothing and jewelry owned by a past roommate in town.

Lisa Conti, 40, of 231 Thornton St., third floor, Manchester, was charged with theft by unauthorized taking, a class B felony.

Police say their investigation began in March when Conti was a tenant at a farm house at 42 Bean Road in Merrimack, with another female tenant who moved out in the spring. When the other tenant moved out, she left many of her personal belongings behind, including most of her clothes, many of which were brand new. When the victim returned a few weeks later to retrieve her items she realized that her clothes had been taken from the home.

Investigators interviewed other residents at the home, owned by Maureen Shatney, and learned that Conti had been seen wearing the victims clothing.

Conti's theft charge constitutes a class B felony due to the value of the clothing she allegedly stole.
