Woman Who Hit Van in February Arrested

Police say she was driving under the influence of drugs.

The Merrimack woman who rear-ended a van in February, partially closing Industrial Drive for about an hour, was arrested for nearly a month later as a result of the investigation following the accident.

Sarah Bancroft, 29, of 19 Swift Lane, Merrimack, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor/aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony. Police say an investigation of the afternoon crash determined Bancroft caused the accident and was driving under the influence of drugs at the time.

Merrimack Police recently issued a warant for her arrest and say she turned herself in on Wednesday, March 20.

The accident occurred in the noontime hour on Feb. 22, when police were called to the two car crash that caused significant damage to Bancroft's Volkswagen Beetle and sent her and the driver of the van, Mark Duffley, 54, of Nashua, to the hospital.

Bancroft's injuries at the time were described as serious but not life-threatening. She had to be extricated from the car.

Bancroft was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear before the Merrimack district court on March 28.
