Former Milford Selectman Honored For Many Years Of Service

Amherst selectman George Infanti was honored Wednesday night for the many years he has spent serving multiple communities.

Infanti was recognized at this year’s deliberative session for his nine years serving in Amherst, as well as the many roles he played in the Milford and Wilton communities. He is retiring from the board in March.

This longtime volunteer has served as a selectman in all three towns and served on multiple planning boards, committees, nonprofit groups and countless other positions in these communities. 

“Has anyone other than George done that? We believe that may be a New Hampshire record,” said selectman Brad Galinson on behalf of the entire board on Wednesday. “You are the model that we strive to become. You are a selfless individual, always a gentleman, who has a never ending commitment to others. I am not sure what our community would be without our dedication.”

Peter Leishman, who served on the Milford selectmen with Infanti in previous years, said that his dedication has had a huge impact on his life and the lives of others.

“If more people were like George, the world would be a better place,” he said.

Amherst Police Chief Mark Reams and selectman Tom Grella thanked Infanti for being a staunch supporter of public safety over the years.

A teary-eyed Infanti thanked his family for their support, and said that his desire to volunteer was inspired by his father. It was a dedication to making a difference in his town, his home, that has driven him to do just that over the last forty years.

“It has been an incredible journey,” he said.
