Voters Add $24,450 For Recreation, Street Sweeper
Milford residents added funds to the town's proposed operating budget on Saturday.

Milford’s proposed town budget saw a small boost from voters at Saturday’s deliberative session.
A total of $24,450 was voted into the budget for additional hours for the recreation program coordinator, and a replacement street sweeper.
Town administrator Guy Scaife said that $20,000 of the first year lease payment for the street sweeper was covered by making reductions in other areas of the budget. Approximately $15,000 was added at the deliberative session to cover the rest of the cost.

He said that the current street sweeper is 21-years-old and has been rebuilt twice. It would have to be rebuilt again this year if a replacement does not come in.
Street sweeping is a mandatory requirement of the EPA Stormwater Program, according to Scaife.

A total of $9,200 was added for additional staff time for the recreation program director. Scaife said that the recreation commission pays 50 percent of that salary.
The total proposed operating budget in Milford is now $12,430,143. There was no opposition to an other articles at the meeting, which include an ambulance and dump truck replacements, social services and funding for the annual pumpkin festival.
