Milford Area Players Presents 'The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940' This Weekend!

Advance tickets are available at Toadstool Bookshop and online, or at the door.

Milford Area Players, winner of the 2008 and 2011 New Hampshire Theatre Award for Best Production in Drama/Comedy for Community Theatre, is proud to present The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 by John Bishop at the Amato Center for the Performing Arts, 56 Mont Vernon Street, Route 13N, Milford, NH, opening this weekend, March 15-17, and playing through next weekend March 22-24, 2013.

An ingenious and wildly comic romp that enjoyed a long and critically hailed run both on and Off-Broadway, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 pokes antic fun at the more ridiculous aspects of “show biz” and the corny thrillers of Hollywood’s heyday.

A non-stop barrage of laughter, the play begins with the creative team of a recent Broadway flop (in which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious “Stage Door Slasher”) who assemble for an audition of their new show at the Westchester estate of a wealthy “angel.” As the composer, lyricist, actors and director prepare for their audition, a blizzard cuts off any possible means of escape and the bodies start to drop in plain sight. Knives spring out of nowhere, masked figures drag their victims with the help of the house’s swiveling bookcases, sliding panels and secret passageways. Enjoy the fun and mayhem as it becomes apparent that the “Stage Door Slasher” has made his reappearance at this grand estate and is striking again – and again!
