Pool Rededicated After Theft of Original Plaque
Keyes Memorial Pool season kicked off yesterday with the unveiling of a new plaque.
Milford’s pool is open once again, and it now sports a shiny new plaque to honor the effort made to bring it into existence.
Town officials, and others who have contributed to the pool’s success, gathered at Keyes Memorial Park for the unveiling of the re-dedication for The Arthur Keyes Memorial Trust.
There had originally been a plaque to honor the gift from the trust, but trustee Janet Langdell said it had been stolen at some point. The recreation commission had a new bronze plaque made to re-dedicate the pool.

Milford Recreation director Nicole Banks said she was happy to kick off the pool season for families to relax and cool off during the summer. She said the pool is community-supported, and brings us all together as a community.
Last year, the pool brought in 1,680 season pass members and 450 individuals with day passes. The trained staff also taught 746 individuals of all ages in some type of pool program.

The pool has received many improvements since it was established in June, 1965, including the addition of a sunshade, floating lane lines and additional equipment for safety.
Rollins Hardwick, who was the first pool director, said he did not have nearly as many programs as seen today.
“You have expanded so well, it is wonderful,” said Hardwick.
Trustee Dick Fisk took a moment to remember George Infanti, a friend and fellow trustee, who passed away last week. He said it was people like George, and the committees and groups they serve, that made the pool a reality in Milford.
