Steady As She Goes At The Milford Polls
Milford Middle School was looking rather empty as poll workers face a low voter turnout.
It has been a very slow day at the Milford polls this afternoon, but at least there were no lines.
Milford town clerk Peggy Langell said that only 611 voters had cast their ballot as of this afternoon. This is a rather low turnout, which is nothing new during town meeting elections.
One problem might be that there is a shortage of “hot button” issues on the ballot this year.

“There are no big issues bringing in voters,” said Milford school board candidate Len Mannino. “More people are coming out just to support their candidates. It has been pretty quiet on the school side.”
Milford selectman candidate Kevin Federico said that low voter turnout was the overwhelming theme of the day, since there is no polar issue on the town side as well.

“We need to do everything we can do get more people out here,” he said.
These candidates were the few standing outside the polls today, but one of them is prepared for the worst in case the weather turns on this cloudy day.
“We have our umbrellas so we are ready,” said Mannino. “We have done this a few times.”
