Recreate That Scene from the Movie "Ghost" This Weekend

Patch has tracked down some good times in New Hampshire this weekend.

1. Romantic Pottery! Bring your significant other to Studio 550 Community Art Center and Gallery in Manchester for Date Night in the Clay Studio Friday, Jun. 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. Remember the movie "Ghost"? Well, now is your chance. This is a perfect activity for right before dinner or right afterward. Everything for two adults is included with the listed price (materials, tools, instruction, etc.), you just need to remember to make the reservations! One the 2nd Friday the night will be spent on the Potter's wheel, but it is rare to keep what you make your first time on the wheel. Only some people will be able to take something home! If you are interested in taking something home with you to remember the day, the 4th Friday event might be better. The project will be handbuilt so everyone will make something they will want to keep. Both are fun experiences! Participants are welcome to bring food, chocolates or beverages to make the evening more their own. Bring your best friend, bring your mom, bring your fiancee or bring your date, but leave the kids at home! Start the night off right by creating memories that last a lifetime with clay! Anchor speaks out! Get to know a WMUR news anchor at Jennifer Vaughn, New Hampshire Notable in Granite State College on Friday, Jun. 28 at 10 a.m. OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) at Granite State College will feature New Hampshire Notable, Jennifer Vaughn, well-known co-anchor of WMUR News 9 at 6. She will discuss her career in broadcast journalism plus her first novel, “Last Flight Out.” on Friday, June 28 at 10:00 AM, Granite State College, 195 McGregor Street, 3rd floor in Manchester. Jennifer Vaughn has been on WMUR–TV for the past twelve years, co-anchoring the 6 PM news, serving as medical reporter, and interviewing every presidential candidate to pass over the NH border since 1999. She’s had the honor of earning some prestigious awards along the way, multiple Emmy nominations, moderating nationally televised presidential debates, and discussing important topics of the day with former and sitting presidents of the United States.

3. Good grief! The Janice B. Streeter Theatre in Nashua will feature You're a Good Man Charlie Brown on Friday, Jun. 28 from 8-10:30 p.m. You're a Good Man Charlie Brown tells the story of an average day in the life of the famous comic strip child hero, Charlie Brown. The audience is introduced to the whole Peanuts gang: Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Schroeder, Sally, and Snoopy. All of the characters share their observations of Charlie Brown. As the play progresses, the relationships of the Peanuts characters to one another are further expanded. Lucy is infatuated with Schroeder and takes great pleasure in tormenting Charlie Brown. Linus loves his blanket. Snoopy lives in his rich imagination. Charlie Brown is in love with a mysterious little, redheaded girl. Tickets sold at the door are $20 for adults, and $18 for seniors and children 12 & under.

4. Slam! Get ready for the 18th Annual Odyssey Science Fiction and Fantasy Slam at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Nashua on Saturday, Jun. 29 from 2:30-4 p.m. Jeanne Cavelos, director and creator of Odyssey, will host an afternoon guaranteed to give your imagination a workout as you travel to strange and mysterious worlds. Fifteen up-and-coming writers of fantastic fiction from the United States, Canada, Germany, and Australia will read their original short stories, each five minutes or less in length.

Hot cars! Catch the 7th Annual Motor Mania at Holman Stadium in Nashua on Saturday, Jun. 29 from 5-9 p.m. The 7th annual Motor Mania event is revving its engine and ready to showcase classic cars and motorcycles that belong to car enthusiast from across New England Motor Mania will be supporting Good News Garage (GNG), a program of Lutheran Social Services with operations in New England, is one of the first nonprofit car donation programs in the U.S. The mission of Good News Garage is to create economic opportunity by providing affordable and reliable transportation options for people in need. This family fun event offers a wide variety of activities for everyone – food, cars, motorcycles, shopping, games, and so much more! What a great way to kick of your summer with the family!
