2 From Nashua Among Myra Kraft Award Honorees

Laurie Goguen and Trudy Matthews will be honored during an awards luncheon today at Gillette Stadium.

Two people from Nashua are among 26 being honored June 12 during a ceremony at Gillette Stadium by The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation as recipients of the 2013 Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards.

During the ceremony, the winners will be recognized for their efforts with the announcement of one grand prize winner of $25,000, 10 second prize winners of $10,000 and 15 third prize winners of $5,000. The money will be awarded to the non-profit organization for which each honoree volunteers.

The two Nashua honorees are Laurie Goguen, of Nashua, who works for Harbor Homes, Inc., and Trudy Matthews, of Hollis, who works for Bridges.

The Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards take place as part of the Patriots ongoing Celebrate Volunteerism initiative, which honors Myra Kraft’s lifetime commitment to volunteerism. The event will feature displays about Myra Kraft as well as the history of the awards and a thank you from Patriots players.

The Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards honor individuals who exemplify leadership, dedication and a commitment to improving their communities through volunteerism. Through the program, non-profit organizations throughout New England have the opportunity to reward their hard-working volunteers for the invaluable time and support they provide to their communities. In 2012, the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation donated $100,000 to local organizations via the Community MVP Awards. As part of the Patriots Marathon Team’s record-breaking fundraising in support of the Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards, the Kraft family announced an increase to $200,000 in grants for 2013. Members of the 2013 Patriots Marathon Team will also be in attendance.
