News you can use, meant to enlighten, inform and entertain.

1. We Are Aliens: Well, that's one new theory being floated by a prominent scientist who says human life more likely incubated on Mars and was sent to Earth by a rock. Sounds like a comic book plot, but hey - I'm no rocket scientist. Read more here.
2. Don't Text Someone Who's Driving: In much the same way as you can be held responsible for over serving someone alcohol who then has an accident under the influence, three New Jersey judges surprised phone owners everywhere Tuesday with a new message: You don't have to be texting and driving to get in trouble. You might be legally liable for a crash if you're on the other end of the phone, too. You may want to read more here.
3. Who Wants an iPhone 5 for Half Price? Best Buy is slashing the price of an iPhone 5 in half, according to PCmag.com, for customers bringing in a working iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S during a promotion this Labor Day weekend. The retail store's trade-in deal starts today and runs through Sept. 2. Best Buy is offering "at least 50-percent off" the standard purchase price of both 16GB and 32GB iPhone 5s to customers bringing in their older models to trade in, Best Buy said. The catch — customers will have to sign two-year contracts with either AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon to take advantage of the deal.
4. Facebook to Clarify How it Will Use Your Profile Info: You may not get around to wading through the terms of use anytime soon, but try reading this brief San Francisco Chronicle piece, which spells out Facebook's current terms of use, which include being able to use your profile photo or other information in conjunction with ads, without compensation to you.
5. Eat Fruit; Skip the Fruit Juice: Researchers have concurred that three servings per week of blueberries, grapes and raisins, and apples and pears significantly reduce the risk of type-2 diabetes. However, the juicing process gets rid of the fruit, just leaving fluids which are absorbed more quickly, causing blood sugars and insulin levels to rise if they contain sugars. So, for your health, an apple a day keeps the doctor away; apple juice – not so much.
