1. Dollar Beard Night at Fenway: You've seen them stroking their manly chins as they round second base in a bearded show of solidarity. 2. Race to Read: Meet Roland Smith, author of the Storm Runners trilogy and the I, Q series, in person! If you've got a copy of his book, bring it and get it signed. 5. Blame the Sun: If your TV reception has been iffy, it may be the result of an increase in solar storms, scientists say. The findings, published in the current edition of the journal Space Weather, is from MIT scientists who tracked space weather conditions to understand the high-speed disturbances in space, which they say caused 26 failures in eight geostationary satellites operated by the London-based company Inmarsat.
