Managing Your Online Life, After Death + 3 More Things
Monday is the first day of the rest of your week. Make it count.
1. Tax Day! It's the ides of April, which means the Internal Revenue Service is expecting your tax return. If for one reason or another you can't file today, here's what you need to know. Tax-filing extensions are available to taxpayers who need more time to finish their returns – and extension of time to file, not an extension of time to pay. However, taxpayers who are having trouble paying what they owe may qualify for payment plans and other relief.
2. Google Solves Your Post-Mortem File Problem: If you've never thought about what happens to your computer files and accounts when you die, you probably should. All those password protected files and accounts will languish, and your heirs will be pulling out their hairs trying to figure out what to do. Have no fear. Your"digital assets" can be managed via the Inactive Account Manager now available on your Google Account settings page. Basically you tell Google what to do with your emails and accounts after so many months of inactivity. Check it out.
3. On this Day in History: It was 66 years ago today, April 15, 1947, that Jackie Robinson debuted for the Brooklyn Dodgers, breaking baseball's color line. And perhaps not coincidentally, you can learn all about the baseball great in the news movie about his life and times, "42," [his jersey number] now showing at Chunky's Cinema Pub.
