Chestnut Street Eyesore Ready for Razing, Rebuilding

After two years, the burned out multifamily building is ready for demolition, and rebuilding.

On April 13 the community welcomed Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity's new ReStore outlet to Nashua, located at 352 Amherst St.

During the ribbon cutting, Mayor Donnalee Lozeau mentioned that the city, in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity, is gearing up to start work on demolition and rebuilding of 42-45 Chestnut St., a multifamily home that was burned out two years ago, and which remains "a blight" to that neighborhood.

The video here includes an audio interview with Habitat Executive Director Leah Shuldiner and Lozeau, about the future of the property, which will be rebuilt as a two-family home. Construction should begin in the fall of 2013 with the goal of completion by summer 2014.
