Diocese Gives $5K to Harbor Homes

The Bishop's Charitable Assistance Fund has given a $5,000 grant to Harbor Homes to help support its emergency homeless shelter.

More below via a press release from the Diocese of Manchester (in photo, Martha O'Neill from the Bishop's Assistance Fund, and Peter Kelleher from Harbor Homes):

"The Maple Arms Emergency Shelter houses approximately 130 people each year, and must raise over $70,000 annually in order to help fund operations.

Unlike other area shelters, clients at Maple Arms are able to remain there during the day to work with a case manager on strategies to help them overcome their homeless circumstances. Guests have access to health and behavioral health care, assistance with finding employment, child care, and applying for entitlements. Clients pay only what they can afford for the shelter and no one is turned away due to the inability to pay. Thanks to the many programs available at Harbor Homes and its affiliate agencies, which make up the Partnership for Successful Living, shelter guests have access to a range of comprehensive services to assist them in getting back on their feet.

“Because of difficult times, we are seeing a surge in the numbers of clients utilizing our Maple Arms Emergency Shelter, and the generous grant from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund will assist us in serving many more homeless consumers in the greater Nashua area,” said Peter Kelleher, President and Chief Executive Officer of Harbor Homes. “We truly appreciate the support of the Fund in helping us house more of our neighbors in need.”
