Man Charged After Throwing Chairs at DMV

Arthur Raymond faces a slew of charges for an outburst Thursday at the DMV that included tangling with a police officer.

Arthur Raymond, 25, of 20 Hideaway Road, Nashua, was arrested April 25, charged with criminal mischief, class B felony, simple assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct, all class A misdemeanors.

On April 25, 2013 at approximately 3:36 p.m., officers responded to the New Hampshire Department of Motor Vehicles’ Nashua location at 110 Broad Street for the report of a man, later identified as Raymond, who was causing a disturbance, throwing chairs and damaging property within the location.

When the first responding officer arrived on scene he was immediately confronted by Raymond and a brief physical altercation ensued. Raymond was subdued and placed under arrest. The officer sustained minor injuries during the altercation, but did not require medical attention.

The incident was further investigated by detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division and it was learned the value of the property damaged by Raymond during the incident exceeded $1500, making the offense a felony.

The class B felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment, exclusive of fines. Each class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in jail, exclusive of fines. Raymond refused bail and is being held at the Nashua Police Department pending his arraignment in the 9th Circuit Nashua District Division Court on April 26, 2013.
