Hudson police said Derek Tomes, of Windham, was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing Saturday.

HUDSON, NH — A Windham man was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing in Hudson Saturday morning, according to police. Derek Tomes, 28, was injured in the crash and transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, police said. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

In a statement, Hudson Police Lt. Tad Dionne said Tomes was driving a pickup truck on Ferry Street over the Taylor Falls Bridge when he veered off the road and ran over traffic signs then crashed into a utility pole.

There was "heavy damage" to the vehicle and crews removed a "large amount of debris" from the road, according to Dionne.
