Fiery Crash In Hudson Knocks Out Power; Lowell Man Charged

Hudson firefighters arrived to a car upside down and on fire but no one in the vehicle. One man was later arrested.

HUDSON, NH — On Friday, May 1, 2020, at approximately 11:43 pm members of the Hudson Police and Hudson Fire Departments responded to the area of Wason Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers located a 2006 Lexus sedan upside down in the roadway, and the vehicle was on fire.

No one was inside the vehicle, according to a report, with the driver of the vehicle suspected to have fled the scene on foot. Members of the Hudson Fire Department worked to extinguish the fire while officers located the suspected driver walking on Wason Road.

The driver was identified as Joshua Maldonado, 31, of Lowell, Massachusetts. Maldonado, who had been wearing a seatbelt, had very minor injuries, and refused medical attention.

The officers conducted an investigation and determined the Lexus was traveling East on Wason Road. The vehicle left the paved portion of the roadway striking a telephone pole, breaking the pole. The vehicle then rolled over and landed on its side where it caught fire. Debris from the accident damaged several vehicles parked at a nearby residence.

Power was knocked out in the area. Eversource was contacted and responded to restore power and repair the pole.

Maldonado was arrested and charged with conduct after an accident and driving after suspension. He was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled for arraignment at the 9th Circuit Court in Nashua on June 12.
