Fill-A-Truck Campaign Needs Your Support
Can you spare a canned good or two today for Amherst Street Elementary School's food pantry?
Amherst Street School has been working hard to assist school families who don't have access to nutritious food. About 75 percent of the school population qualifies for free or reduced lunch.
The need is great.
This school year a Backpack Food Pantry program was launched at the school. About 35-40 backpacks are distributed to students every other week (about 20 per week) to provide extra food assistance to those families over the weekends.

The school has partnered with UNOs this weekend to “fill a bus” with healthy food to sustain the pantry for the rest of the school year. Most needed: staples like peanut butter, pasta and cereal.
