Fire Devastates Crestwood Lane Home

Reader photos help tell the story of a fire on Crestwood Lane.

Billows of heavy smoke rose up from a two-alarm fire at 8 Crestwood Lane Saturday afternoon.

Two firefighters were reportedly injured at the scene of the fire, reported at about 4 p.m., as crews worked to control heavy fire coming from the rear of the two-story home, Nashua fire officials said. A partial roof collapse created a dangerous situation for firefighters, who continued to attack the blaze.

Nashua resident Chris Daignault says he saw a fire truck "scream by" his home and so he followed, arriving at the scene just after fire crews got there.

"Flames were probably 10 to 20 feet at one point. The whole back of the house is destroyed," Daignault said.

One firefighter was reportedly taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center with a shoulder injury and another suffered an eye injury. Neither injuries were consider life-threatening, fire officials said

Smoke alarms were installed and working. No residents were home at the time of the fire, which remains under investigation by the city fire marshal's office.
