Gate City Gardeners Can 'Get Growing'
Legislation was fast tracked because Mother Nature waits for no man.
During Tuesday night's Board of Aldermen's meeting, legislation authorizing the city to enter into a lease agreement with R-13-113, was fast-tracked and approved, shepherded by Alderman Mark Cookson, who noted that given the time-table for processing the request, gardeners would likely lose valuable prime gardening time.
Cookson noted the legislation was met favorably in the finance committee and while he's not normally a proponent of pulling legislation from a committee, he was "sympathetic to this group."
All that is to say that the Gate City Community Gardens project is now officially a go, and will be established along the Heritage Rail Trail. We will keep you updated on their progress.
