In NH (Almost) Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day

OK, maybe not almost everyone, but according to the U.S. Census Bureau, it's more likely than, say, in Hawaii.

We are No. 2, which may simply mean we try harder when it comes to celebrating St. Patrick's Day. And by No. 2, we mean that according to the U.S. Census Bureau, New Hampshire has the second-most Irish ancestry of all the 50 states, at 21.5 percent.

There are some fun facts at the Census Bureau site, as well as the history of Irish immigrants in NH, which we've uploaded here as a pdf via NHHistory.org.

For the record, Massachusetts is No. 1, of course – but only by 1.2 percent. And if you can't guess, Hawaii is dead last, at No. 50.
