A female victim reported that the suspect, who was known to her, had physically assaulted her during an argument and, later, sexually assaulted her at the residence, police said.

The NPD said detectives with its Special Investigations Division later determined that during the physical assault, the suspect had strangled the victim, and that the suspect also had sexually assaulted the victim.

Detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant, and officers took the suspect into custody on Saturday, according to the NPD.
