MA Woman Charged With Trying To Cash $25K Fraudulent Check In Nashua

NASHUA, NH — A Leominster, Massachusetts woman was arrested Friday at a Nashua bank and charged with attempting to cash a fraudulent business check in excess of $25,000, the Nashua Police Department said.

Sasha Lemoine, 24, was taken into custody at the Santander Bank branch, located at 13 Northeastern Blvd., and charged with attempted theft by deception, a Class A felony, and forgery, a Class B felony, police said.

A felony is punishable by a term of imprisonment, exclusive of fines.

Authorities said Lemoine was released on bail and will be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South at a later date to be determined.

According to police reports, at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, members of the NPD's Uniformed Field Operations Bureau responded to a report of a fraud in progress at the Santander Bank branch.

Officers located Lemoine within the bank as she was attempting to cash a fraudulent business check in excess of $25,000, the NPD said.

Police said officers conducted an initial investigation and then placed the suspect under arrest at the scene, eventually taking Lemoine to the Nashua Police Department.
