Man Crashed Stolen Car in Hudson

Carlos Echevarria-Bourbeau Jr. of Lowell, Mass., faces several charges in a crash that left a 70-year-old injured.

A Lowell, Mass., man driving a stolen car was held on $10,000 cash bail following a crash in Hudson that left a 70-year-old woman with minor injuries.

According to Hudson Police, on April 23 at about 5:23 p.m., first responders were called to the intersection of Nevens and Merrill streets for a reported motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival the Hudson Fire Department worked for about 20 minutes to free Eleanor Freeman, 70, of Hudson from the wreckage. She was driving a 2008 Chevy Impala. Freeman was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital by the Hudson Fire Department to be evaluated for minor injuries.

Police said the other vehicle, a 2000 Chrysler Concord, was driven by Carlos Echevarria-Bourbeau Jr., 19, of Lowell, Mass.

Echevarria-Bourbeau was not injured in the accident. An on-scene investigation was conducted by the Hudson Police Department which determined that Freeman was traveling north on Nevens Street and attempting to make a turn onto Merrill Street. At the same time, Echevarria-Bourbeau was traveling east on Merrill Street and the two vehicles collided. The accident remains under investigation.

While on scene, police learned that the vehicle operated by Echevarria-Bourbeau was reported stolen April 23 from Lowell, Mass.. Subsequently, Echevarria-Bourbeau was taken into custody for a felony receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled drug and driving without a valid license.

Echevarria-Bourbeau is being held on $10,000 cash bail at the Hillsborough County House of Correction in Manchester pending his arraignment on April 24, 2013 at the 9th Circuit Court Nashua Division.   

Both drivers were lone occupants of their vehicles, and both were wearing their seatbelts, and there was air bag deployment in both vehicles, police said.
