Man Evades Police, Drives ATV Into Propane Tank

Jonathan Gray faces multiple charges.

A man was injured Wednesday night when he crashed his ATV into a propane tank on Christine Drive in Hudson.

Jonathan Gray, 19, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was charged with reckless driving and disobeying an officer.

According to a police narrative, on April 17, 2013 at about 8:10 p.m., Hudson Police Officer Brian Morgan was parked on Robinson Road near Christine Drive monitoring traffic. At that time, an ATV drove pass Officer Morgan traveling at a high rate of speed while heading west on Robinson Road.

As Officer Morgan activated his blue lights to follow the driver, the ATV made a left turn to travel off the roadway. Officer Morgan followed the ATV onto Christine Drive. After several minutes of searching, Officer Morgan located an injured man lying in front of the business of 3 Christine Drive.

Nearby, Officer Morgan located the crashed ATV.

According to police Gray drove off an embankment and crashed into a propane tank. Subsequently, Gray was taken into custody for disobeying a police officer, reckless driving and an unregistered motor vehicle. The Hudson Fire Department responded to the scene to investigate a possible propane tank leak, and based on their findings the Hudson Fire Department shut off the propane tank. Also, while on scene, members of the Hudson Fire Department EMT’s treated Gray for his injuries, and transported him to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. Gray was not wearing a helmet.

He was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail from the hospital, and is scheduled to appear at the 9th Circuit Court Nashua Division on May 2, 2013.
