Miss America Watch: Miss NH Has Busy Week Ahead
Nashua's Samantha Russo is on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, ready for the Miss America pageant.
Nashua's Samantha Russo, aka Miss New Hampshire, has landed in Atlantic City, NJ, and is officially in the thick of the competition for the Miss America crown, which culminates in the Miss America pageant on Sunday, Sept. 15, in Atlantic City.
According to the official Miss America Facebook page, Russo is in the "Alpha" Group, one of three contestant groups, cycling through the week's preliminary competitions.
Russo's schedule this week:
Monday Evening: Interview
Tuesday: Talent
Wednesday: On Stage Question
Thursday: Swimsuit/Evening wear

Russo's platform is "Kicking Butts" in support of anti-smoking, tobacco awareness and education. According to this year's stats, Miss America 2014 contestant platforms breakdown as follows:
- 50 percent children’s causes
- 23 percent health issues
- 13 percent community and civic involvement
- 6 percent self-esteem and empowerment
- 4 percent veterans and military
- 4 percent elderly issues.
