Nashua firefighters encountered a "heavy" blaze on East Hobart Street at about 2 a.m.

NASHUA, NH — A fire consumed a Nashua home on East Hobart Street early Saturday morning. The two occupants escaped unharmed, though their house is uninhabitable, fire officials said. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 2 a.m., according to Nashua Deputy Fire Chief George Walker.

"Crews found heavy fire in the rear dormer and knee wall of the home," Walker said in a statement. "Crews were able to knock the bulk of the fire down with 2 hose lines. Extensive overhaul was required to open up walls and ceilings to get to the seat of the fire."
