Nashua Firefighters Help Make Wishes Come True

Nine teams participated in the Rafting for Wishes challenge for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of NH.

The Rafting for Wishes challenge for Make-A-Wish just concluded and the participating teams raised about $70,000, including more than $10,000 from a team of Nashua firefighters, according to Jason Tremblay, director of Philanthropy for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire.

The challenge this year was to raise $44,000 in 44 hours with the nine rafting teams anchored in Meredith Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee. They began July 31 and celebrated closing ceremonies Friday afternoon.

This is the third year of a rafting challenge, which Tremblay and Jason Perry began as a way to raise money to ensure children fighting life-threatening illnesses can see their wish come true. This year alone, Tremblay notes, 112 children in New Hampshire will be diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

The Nashua firefighters – view their fund-raising web page here – were volunteering their time and efforts for their wish buddy Hannah. Here's their introduction of her, and her wish:
