Nashua Intersection Renamed For Fallen NPD Officer Killed In 1964

NASHUA, NH —The Nashua Police Department has announced that it has renamed a local intersection in honor of an NPD officer who was killed on the job in 1964.

The traffic circle at the intersection of Main Street, South Main Street and Daniel Webster Highway was renamed the Officer Edward "Rocky" Graziano Memorial Circle on the 58th anniversary of Graziano's death.

Graziano was working as a motorcycle officer on August 14, 1964, when he was struck by a vehicle he was attempting to stop for a traffic infraction near what is today the intersection of Daniel Webster Highway and Robinson Road.

Graziano, who was just 26 years old, later succumbed to injuries at Nashua Memorial Hospital. He left behind a wife and three children.

"Over the years, the Graziano family have remained staunch supporters of the Nashua Police Department," the NPD said in a statement. "In recognition of Officer Graziano's dedication and service to the city of Nashua, we take great pride in dedicating the traffic circle in his honor."

The NPD said the dedication was made possible thanks to the Graziano family and the Nashua Board of Aldermen.
