Nashua Man Arrested for Brutal Assault of Mother

Thomas Foden was held on $50,000 cash bail.

Thomas Foden, 39, of 57 Tyler St., #409, Nashua, was charged with burglary and second degree assault for allegedly breaking into a Pondview Drive residence on Nov. 25 and beating his mother, leaving her severely injured.

Police arriving on the scene to the report of an assault located a woman who had been "severely injured" by Foden. The woman was later identified as his mother by police, who was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries, police said.

In addition to burglary, Foden faces three counts of second degree assault. He was taken to the Merrimack Police Department where he was processed and held on $50,000 cash bail.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 26. At his court appearance today, according to the Union Leader report, a judge looking at images of Foden's mother's head trauma, responded, "These pictures are some of the most awful pictures I've ever seen."

WMUR reported that according to Foden’s lawyer, Foden previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia and had been released from a local hospital the day before the attack.
