Nashua Man Arrested For Making Threats With Edged Weapons: Police
Police said Ian Wood threatened citizens and officers, including throwing a weapon at the officers, nearly striking them.

NASHUA, NH —A Nashua man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly threatening fellow citizens and police officers with edged weapons, including throwing a weapon and nearly striking officers, the Nashua Police Department said.
Ian Wood, 52, was taken into custody in the parking lot of a local business by members of the NPD's Uniform Field Operations Bureau, the department said. The department did not specify what kind of weapons the suspect had in his possession.
The suspect was charged with attempted first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, a Class A felony, and two counts of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony.

According to authorities, a Class A felony is punishable by 15 years in state prison, exclusive of fines. Each Class B felony is punishable by up to seven years in state prison, exclusive of fines.
The NBD said Wood was held on preventative detention and was scheduled to be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court -South on Thursday.

According to police reports, at 5:52 p.m. Wednesday, NPD officers were called to the parking lot of a local business by reports of a male armed with edged weapons who was threatening to harm people.
At the scene, officers made contact with the suspect, who then threatened to harm the officers, at one point throwing an edged weapon at the officers, nearly striking them, the NPD said.
The department said its officers made efforts to de-escalate the situation and ultimately were able to take the suspect into custody.
After a further investigation, the NPD's Criminal Investigation Division said it learned that the suspect had threatened another individual, not known to the suspect, with an edged weapon earlier in the evening.
