Nashua Man Seriously Injured After Fiery Crash In Merrimack

Farooq Aziz was pulled from the burning Nissan GT-R after it rolled on the Everett Turnpike Saturday; he was flown to a Boston hospital.

MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack Police, Fire, and New Hampshire State Police responded to the Everett Turnpike for a report of a motor vehicle accident in the southbound lane at mile marker 14.2 on Saturday.

Additional reports came in that occupants were still in the car, and it was on fire.

Merrimack Police arrived at the scene just after 9 pm and reported the vehicle was fully engulfed and one victim was on the ground. Several good samaritans who stopped had pulled Farooq Aziz, 39, of Nashua, from the burning vehicle.

Merrimack Fire and EMS quickly prepared the man for transport and activated a trauma alert at the Elliot Hospital. Aziz was flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, by Boston MedFlight for serious life-threatening injuries, including burns.

The 2013 Nissan GT-R appears to have rolled over multiple times, struck a series of trees, came to rest on its side, and burst into flames. Firefighters searched the vehicle and the woods for any additional occupants. It was determined that there was only one person in the vehicle. NH State Police say speed appears to be a factor in the crash; however, all aspects remain under investigation.

The turnpike was shut down in both directions for a short time, and one lane reopened in each direction. State police took measurements and investigated the accident, and the vehicle was removed at about 10:45 p.m.
