Nashua Police Investigating Suspicious Death After Shooting Reported

Police, fire, and AMR rushed to a location on Amherst Street where the NH AG says a suspicious death of a man is being investigated.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Police, Nashua Fire Rescue, and AMR Ambulance responded to a multi-unit house on Amherst Street across from Holman Stadium on Friday night.

Responders arrived at the scene at about 9 p.m. and reported a shooting. They quickly cleared crews without transporting anyone from the scene. Police surrounded the sidewalk in front of 56 Amherst St. with yellow tape and set up a white tent in front of the address near a porch.

A short time later, Nashua police officers and a K-9 unit approached a door on the left side of the building and alerted they were making entry. Police could be heard using a ramming device to break down the door to make entry into the building.

As the officers proceeded through the dark building, flashlights could be seen as they appear to search the building. After about 30 minutes later they exited the building and returned a second time with a K-9 searching the yard and a large garage. No one was found, and police remained at the scene.

A short time later, a person from the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner arrived. They were seen entering the building and appearing to take photos on the porch and near the front door of the building.

The NH Attorney General’s Office said it was assisting Nashua police in investigating a suspicious death of a man that occurred Friday.

A neighbor told reporters the property manager had been having ongoing issues with people trying to sleep on the porch but it is unknown if this could be connected to the incident.

The investigation is active and ongoing, and according to Nashua police, it appears all parties involved have been identified, and there is no threat to the public.

The deceased's identity and further information are not expected to be released until after an autopsy is concluded Saturday afternoon.

As information becomes available, Patch will publish additional information.
