Nashua Resident Burned While Extinguishing Bedroom Fire
A garden hose was used by a resident to knock down the fire while firefighters responded to the scene on Colleen Road

NASHUA, NH - On October 24, 2020 at 3:06 am, Nashua Fire Rescue responded to a reported building Fire at 4 Collen Rd.
Upon arrival NFR Engine 6 had smoke showing from a 1-1/2 story single family split level home, with the occupants outside reporting a bedroom fire in the basement. The residents reported that he used a garden hose to knock the fire down.
Deputy Chief Kevin F. Kerrigan said Engine 6 stretched 1 hose line to completely extinguish the remaining fire in the bedroom.

Three Occupants escaped from the home, with one occupant receiving burns to his hands from trying to extinguish the fire. Deputy Chief Kerrigan said the resident had minor burns to the hand and was treated on scene by AMR .
Smoke detectors had alerted the occupants to the fire. The ladder company searched the building to confirm all occupants had escaped, smoke and heat damage occurred throughout the building.

The cause is under investigation by the City of Nashua Fire Marshal’s office.
Deputy Chief Kerrigan reminds people when smoke detectors sound always leave the building immediately, and close doors on your way out.
