Nashua SWAT Team Arrests Armed Robbery Suspect
Nashua police said Jose Joel Collazo-Rivera robbed East Hollis Street Variety at gunpoint.

NASHUA, NH — The Nashua police SWAT team arrested an armed robbery suspect charged with hitting East Hollis Street Variety this week, authorities announced Friday. Jose Joel Collazo-Rivera, 35, was taken into custody without incident and held on $50,000 bail. Collazo-Rivera armed himself when a handgun when he robbed East Hollis Street Variety Tuesday at about 8:50 p.m., according to Nashua police Lieutenant Craig Allard.
The suspect threatened a clerk and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

"(The clerk) described the suspect as a short Hispanic male wearing a black jacket, black hat and white scarf," Allard said in a statement. "Detectives furthered the investigation and learned that the suspect fled the area on his bicycle and that at the time of the robbery was armed with a black handgun."
On Wednesday, detectives learned Collazo-Rivera was hiding out at a Major Drive residence, Allard said. Police obtained a warrant and sent its SWAT team, which raided the residence and took the suspect into custody without incident.

Collazo-Rivera was held on $50,000 bail pending an arraignment Friday on February 2.
