The police said a resident walking in the area had notified the NPD after speaking with the suspect and becoming "concerned about the situation."

Detectives from the NPD's Special Investigations Division were assigned to the investigation, the department said.

Police said the detectives determined that Belanger was unknown to the juvenile and had taken the girl to the football game at Stellos Stadium, located at 7 Stadium Drive. During an unrelated disturbance at the game, the suspect had taken the juvenile away from the area.

Officers located the pair, and the NPD said the juvenile was returned to her home. The department said it does not believe the victim was physically harmed.

Belanger was taken into custody without incident, according to the NPD.
