Owner Charged After Dog Bites Neighbor Twice

Responding police officer shot the dog in self-defense when it lunged at him.

David Williams, 44, of 55 Baldwin St., was arrested April 17, charged with criminal threatening after his dog lunged at a Nashua Police officer who had come to follow up on a report Williams' dog had twice bitten a woman, his neighbor, in the face.

"Our officer made contact with Mr. Williams and the dog at his residence, and the officer had repeatedly asked Mr. Williams to get the dog inside the house, as it was exhibiting aggressive behavior. The dog broke loose and charged at the officer, and the officer shot the dog in the paw in self defense," Moushegian said.

He said the officer was there to make sure the dog had all its shots and paperwork in order following the reported dog bite.

"Mr. Williams was uncooperative and his conduct at the time supported the charge of criminal threatening," Moushegian said.

The dog did not sustain life-threatening injuries from the gunshot. However, Moushegian said police believe the dog was to be euthanized due to its aggressive behavior.
