Snow Causing Traffic Snarls, Gridlock on Everett Turnpike

Lots of accidents on the Everett Turnpike in Nashua, I-93 in Manchester, I-95 in Portsmouth and Hampton on Friday morning.

Crashes are being reported across southern New Hampshire Friday morning as a result of the coating of snow that has fallen on area roads.

According to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, several accidents on the Everett Turnpike have resulted in gridlock from Exit 1 to Exit 10, both north and southbound. Police and emergency vehicles are having trouble getting to the scenes of numerous accidents. Multiple accidents near Exit 1 were reported just before 8 a.m.

Around 8 a.m., an overturned vehicle was reported on Interstate 95 north in the area of Exit 4 in Portsmouth. One person is reportedly trapped in the vehicle and a trauma team has been activated. A rollover with injury was also reported on I-95 north between exits 1 and 2 in Hampton around 7:50 a.m. A third Seacoast crash was reported around the same time on Exeter Road in North Hampton.

Also around 8 a.m., a multiple-vehicle accident was reported on Interstate 293 south in the area of Exit 6 in Manchester. No serious injuries were reported, but the crash is causing some major traffic headaches.

A rollover with entrapment was reported on Interstate 93 near Exit 3 in Windham around 7:30 a.m. No information on injuries was immediately available.

At 8:45 a.m. NH DOT reported multiple cars off the road in Manchester, on I-93 southbound near the lower split 293, and another accident on I-93 northbound, a rollover, on the Exit 8 on ramp just before 9 a.m., and another in the southbound lane of 93, just before Exit 7.

Just before 9:30 a.m. there was a report of an accident westbound on Route 101 near Exit 1 in Auburn, with one car reportedly on fire.
