Soup Kitchen Gets $6,500 Boost From NH Diocese
Thanks to the Bishop's Charitable Assistance Fund, more meals and services will be available to Nashua's neediest.

Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, Inc. has received a $6,500 grant from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund to help provide meals, food bags and financial assistance for low-income and homeless individuals and families with children.
The Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter serves breakfast Monday through Friday and dinner every day of the year. Emergency food boxes are distributed from our food pantry on Mondays, along with perishable fruits and vegetables, breads and bakery items we collect from local grocers. Perishables are also collected Tuesday through Saturday and are distributed daily. During our last fiscal year, which ended in June 2013, we served 24,080 breakfast meals, served 55,299 dinner meals, gave out 4,499 food baskets and had 29,293 visits for fresh produce. We also gave financial assistance to 80 families, including 83 children, to prevent homelessness.
“We truly appreciate the support of the Diocese of Manchester and the grant we have received from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund” said Lisa Christie, executive director of the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter. “We will use this money to help purchase food in the soup kitchen and pantry, and to provide financial assistance to prevent families and individuals from becoming homeless.”
